How It Works

We provide a seamless process from initial consultation to comprehensive reporting. Discover how our expert assessments, detailed surveys, and dedicated follow-up cater precisely to your tree management and planning requirements.

Determining the right tree survey for your needs depends on several factors, including your project's specific requirements, the location, and the nature of the trees involved.

To help you decide, consider the purpose of your survey: Are you planning construction, assessing tree health, or evaluating potential risks? For construction and development projects, a BS5837 Tree Survey is often necessary. If you're concerned about tree health or safety, a Tree Condition Survey might be more appropriate.

We have provided a short description on all the surveys we offer.

For tailored guidance, our expert team is available to discuss your project and recommend the most suitable survey, ensuring compliance with regulations and addressing your specific concerns.

We offer a free, no obligation estimate. Simply contact us by phone, email, or through our online form and we'll be ready to listen to your specific concerns and requirements. Our team is ready to arrange to come out and visit, whether it's for a single property or an extensive estate.

Depending on the size of site and the number of trees, we may briefly visit your site to assess your full tree consultancy and survey requirements before providing a quotation. It's also an opportunity for you to discuss any concerns or specific requirements you may have.

We will provide you with a quotation for your tree consultancy or survey.

This quotation will clearly break down the services required, offering a transparent view of costs for each aspect of the work. Our aim is to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the proposed services and their associated fees, reflecting our commitment to honesty and clarity in all our dealings.

We encourage you to review this quotation and get in touch with any questions or adjustments you may need. It's important to us that you feel fully informed and comfortable with the proposed plan before any work commences.

On the day of the visit, our arboricultural consultants will arrive prepared to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your site's trees as previously agreed.

They will assess the health, structure, and any specific conditions of the trees, while also considering environmental factors and potential impacts on your property.

Our consultants will gather all necessary data, offer expert insights, and discuss any immediate observations with you, ensuring a thorough understanding of your site’s arboricultural needs.

A full written report will follow.

Upon completion of the consultancy or survey work, we will provide your organisation with an invoice that reflects the initial agreement. This invoice will itemise all provided services and associated costs, demonstrating our dedication to transparency and fairness in billing.

The invoice will detail our payment terms and available payment methods, tailored to align with your organisation's financial procedures.

Our customer service team is always on standby to assist with your tree consultancy enquiries, whether you contact us by phone or online. We offer direct access to our company's leadership to guarantee your project gets the dedicated attention and excellence it deserves.

Customer satisfaction is our top priority throughout the survey and beyond. Your feedback is invaluable, helping us continually elevate our services to meet your standards. Should you have any queries or require additional support after project completion, our team is readily available to assist.

We aim to build lasting relationships with our clients. At Climbers Way Tree Care, we see ourselves not just as a service provider, but as a long-term partner in your tree care and landscape management.

Tree Condition Surveys

Tree owners have a legal duty of care to keep their trees safe; our surveys help by identifying risks and offering management solutions based on arboricultural best practices. We provide reports for individual trees or extensive surveys for larger sites, using a range of methods.

If you have concerns about a particular tree or need a detailed inspection, our Individual Tree Inspection service is ideal. Whether it's for health and safety reasons, a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) application, or simply to understand the tree's condition, we provide comprehensive assessments to meet your specific needs.

Ideal for locations with numerous trees, like schools, parks, and wooded areas, our walk-over survey involves a ground-level visual examination of all trees. The inspector will look for signs of damage, cavities, or decay, and prepare a detailed report with necessary actions and their suggested timelines.

Key in this survey is the identification, tagging, and mapping of potentially unsafe trees, ensuring easy location and prompt addressing of any issues.

This survey is particularly cost-effective for managing large tree populations, especially when working within a budget.

Offering a deeper level of detail compared to walk-over surveys, our comprehensive site surveys involve a thorough assessment of every tree above a specified size within the area. We meticulously document all relevant data in a detailed inventory.

This type of survey is especially valuable for housing developments or areas where trees are near buildings and high pedestrian traffic zones.

For larger sites where a full comprehensive survey isn't feasible, we offer a practical solution with our combination site surveys. In this approach, we divide the site into sections.

Areas requiring detailed attention, like around a house or development, receive a comprehensive survey, while the rest of the grounds are efficiently covered with a walk-over survey.

This method ensures thoroughness where it's needed most, without compromising on the overall assessment of the site.

Tree Surveys For Planning

When constructing on a site with existing trees, a tree survey is required by the Local Planning Authority in compliance with BS5837:2012 standards. This survey assesses the site's potential development, advises on tree retention or removal, and guides the protection of trees during construction. BS5837 reports typically cover the following key areas:

Our initial step involves a comprehensive site survey to identify trees impacted by construction. We evaluate each tree's health, recommending the removal of those in poor condition, and develop a Tree Constraints Plan for the trees to be retained. This plan highlights Root Protection Areas, essential for safeguarding vital root systems during construction.

Following the initial survey, and once the site layout is established, we conduct an Arboricultural Impact Assessment. This assessment merges our tree survey data with your proposed site layout to gauge the potential impact on retained trees. Based on this, we draft a preliminary Tree Protection Plan, specifying measures like protective fencing, ground protection, and any specialised building requirements needed.

Once proposals are completed, the local authority may request a comprehensive Arboricultural Method Statement as a condition for planning discharge.

Adhering to this Method Statement is crucial to avoid accidental tree damage during construction.

It outlines key development aspects and serves as a guide for developers. Additionally, we integrate the final site specifics into a conclusive Tree Protection Plan.

After obtaining planning approval for your project, there may be instances where an arboriculturist needs to be present during operations that could potentially harm retained trees.

Our consultants commonly supervise activities within precautionary zones such as Root Protection Areas. They offer guidance to site workers, briefing them on potential tree-related risks and recommending measures to minimise the chances of damage.

Mortgage & Insurance Reports

We can provide essential, detailed tree assessments to meet the specific requirements of lenders and insurers for policy approval or fund release.
Mortgage lenders and insurance companies often need a detailed tree report as a prerequisite for fund release or a policy. Our specialised reports are crafted to meet these specific lender or insurer criteria, covering thorough assessments of tree health, the likelihood of damage, and any relevant preservation constraints.

Decay Detection Inspection

Our advanced tools can accurately diagnose internal decay in trees, providing crucial insights into their structural integrity.

If there's a suspicion of internal decay or hollowness in a tree, we conduct further investigations using a state-of-the-art RESI F500SE decay detection drill. This advanced tool drills into the tree and produces a graph that reflects the condition of the wood encountered. It's an effective way to determine the residual wall thickness and assess the extent of decay, offering critical insights into the tree's structural integrity.

Aerial Climbing INspection

Our aerial climbing inspections, conducted by qualified arborists, offer a detailed evaluation of tree health up in the crown.

When a ground-level inspection suggests potential defects higher up, a climbed tree survey may be necessary for a comprehensive evaluation.

Our qualified arborists undertake this task with the utmost safety, providing a detailed report of their findings, complete with photographic evidence and expert recommendations.

Due to the safety precautions necessary for elevated work, it is crucial that this task is undertaken by a qualified professional.

In cases where decay is suspected in the higher sections of the tree, such as the crown or primary branches, we combine our climbing inspection with targeted aerial decay detection. This focused approach allows us to accurately assess the extent of decay in these critical areas.
