Tree felling is the removal of a tree, perhaps for safety, or perhaps to open up a new space. The tree is removed from the ground in one piece.
If space is limited though then the tree can be dismantled. This process involves taking down the canopy in sections. A climber is sent into the tree to make cuts and then the timber is carefully lowered to the ground using ropes.
If the crown of your tree is too big or too dense then your tree needs either a crown reduction or its crown thinning. Crown reduction reduces the overall size of the canopy where as crown thinning involves selectively removing branches from the canopy.
